Nick Jeffery and John Granger Continue Their 60th Birthday Celebration of the Life and Work of J. K. Rowling with a Conversation About the Cormoran Strike Novel about the Writing of Novels
Michael Fancourt wouldn't appreciate you implying he thinks women can't write. He only thinks women with KIDS can't write. Oh, and that love is an illusion. And that Leanora killed Quine. His batting average for correct assumptions is slightly abysmal.
Absolutely relevant, and from 2019 lots of connections. But the length of the friendship, and the fact that Mccolm worked for the News of the World, makes me sure he is our Jenkins.
Thanks for explaining, that makes sense. I love your Lake research! I never knew about the real DB, but it explains how JKR is so knowledgeable about redcaps and the different places Strike served. I remember thinking she must have invented that internet forum “ARRSE”. Got quite a shock when I looked it up and saw it’s real! 😆
We know JK likes Dorothy L Sayers and I always thought that the portrayal of writers in this book echoes the very funny scene in Gaudy Night where Harriet Vane goes to a literary party. Of course the difference is that Harriet Vane as the heroine of several books is portrayed very sympathetically by Sayers whereas I am struggling to think of a sympathetic portrayal of a writer in any of Rowling's books.
I'm just re-reading Silkworm now, and it is gloriously catty! ‘I’ve seen her work. She makes Dorcus Pengelly look like Iris Murdoch. Typical of the dross – the dross—’
How soon will we be getting that HogPro post on the Twelve Golden Threads? Really looking forward to it!

Hey fellas quick question, will you do a Christmas Pig episode? Love that story!
Yes! Christmas Pig is a personal favorite -- and Nick and I have already recorded one conversation about it (https://www.hogwartsprofessor.com/rowling-studies-2-the-christmas-pig/). We'll do another as part of this series.
That’s brilliant! I look forward to it. Thanks for the link to the older convo!
Really excited for y’all to discuss that golden thread!
Not sure if this is relevant, but I think JKR is friends with Julie Bindel, a journalist.

What song is used for the intro? Thanks!
It's a tune called "Magic Tricks - P5", we licensed it from Pond5.
