That’s great news! Such fascinating discussions in the previous episodes.
Would be wonderful to hear you talk about the influence of detective fiction in Rowlings work as I am huge fan of crime novels - I believe I have heard her mention Ian Rankin and Patricia Cornwell before, plus she mentioned a character reading one of the Stieg Larsson mysteries in one of the Strike books.
Dinah Maria Mulock was a pre-First Wave feminist that seems not to be in JKR's 'lake', which is a shame because their lives parallel so much. JKR has identified DMM's best friend, Elizabeth Gaskell, as an influence.
DMM married at age 40, becoming Dinah Maria Mulock Craik. The phenomenal success of her best selling novel ("the second best selling novel of the nineteenth century", according to one biographical listing), encouraged her to publish books about the concerns of women in Society; for this she was consigned to being "a women's writer". (Miss Mulock noted that since it was unlikely that most women would find a good marriage it was important for them to be able to support themselves and manage their own lives, whether married or not.) Before she married she supported her mother, her brother, and her awful father, by being a successful writer. After she married, she had a house built, and she and her husband adopted a baby girl found in a back alley, which was a daring thing to do in the face of general prejudice that no good could be expected of such a child. DMM loved her daughter quite as JKR has loved her Jessica.
Watch this space. John and I are working on the outline for our next episode, but sorry for the delay!

This was a great read!
Is there any news about a release date for the next podcast episode?
