Great work. Loving the "dragon" insight. I recognise the similarity with Chiswell's death coming in the middle of Lethal White as Charlotte's does in the middle of The Running Grave. Perhaps also there's a progression along the lines of the ages of the dragons, in terms of the length and depth of the relationships Strike has with the victims - Lula who he'd never met, Chiswell his client who he had a working relationship with, and Charlotte who he's known half his lifetime and has a long-running dysfunctional relationship with. This would also fit with Leda being the victim in book 10.
Thank you, Ed! Your relationships length-and-depth thinking as a possible parallel with the aging dragons has the resonance of truth. As unlikely as the playing out of any and all speculation about what Rowling's next three books will contain, I confess that Nick's idea that Charlotte was murdered has me much more excited about Strikes 8, 9, and 10 than I would otherwise be post 'Running Grave.' As you note, it seems a great segue to the revelations of how Leda Strike died in the finale. Happy New Year!
The Potter Mania Pioneers, the post Deathly Hallows Academic Avalanche, and Generation Hex All Grown Up -- and, yes, this subject merits it's own longish article of explanation and podcast!

You call this fourth generation Rowling studies. What were the first three generations?

It’s always a “both/and” to experience the fullness of all goodness, truth and beauty, isn’t it?😉
Glad you two have brought the two together so that we can enjoy JKR’s writing even more.
